We know that December can be a difficult time for many, as the expectations to meet up with friends and family and have a great time can provide lots of stress and pressure for young people.

Mindworks Surrey wants to ensure you have access to all the resources and help you may need this festive period.

There are Children Young People Havens set up across the county, these are run by the Surrey County Council with support from the Surrey Wellbeing Partnership; it is a safe space for children and young people aged 10-18 to talk about worries and mental health in a confidential, friendly and supportive environment.

Our Mindworks website is full of useful information which may help you, it also has a helpful organisations page which is a directory for groups which provide a wide range of support from those dealing with bereavement to support for carers, there are lots of suggested contacts available to assist with most situations. If you want a group that is accessible and provides instant support there is also an online wellbeing community, Kooth which is available to all young people and can help assist children and young people through hard times.

Our Neurodevelopmental needs page on the Mindworks website, which has recently been updated with our clinicians and has lots of helpful strategies and interventions to support Neurodevelopmental needs such as; ADHD and Autism. There you will find lots of suggestions on how to support someone with ND as well as coping strategies and resources to use. For families and carers, our out of hours advice line for ND runs from 5pm -11pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year and can be reached on: 0300 222 5755. We also have a free 24/7 mental health crisis line for children aged from six years, young people and their families or carers who are in crisis. There you will find lots of suggestions on how to support someone with ND as well as coping strategies and resources to use.

Remember, if find you need help urgently over the festive people or are supporting a young person in a mental health crisis, please call our 24/7 mental health crisis line free on 0800 915 4644. It’s open all day and all night, seven days a week. There are also some other helpful organisations for those in a crisis which can be found on our crisis webpage
