NAS offers specialist workshops to parents to support the mental health and wellbeing of Autistic children by providing theory and practical strategies. We offer these free to families who are registered with our service with opportunities to access them during the day and evenings. Each workshop runs for 2 hours online. There are opportunities for chat and to answer questions.

The Positive Parenting Service
Description
The Positive Parenting Service aims to support parents/carers of children (6-18 years old) who have a diagnosis of, or who are awaiting a diagnosis of ADHD. This support and advice is delivered in an 8 week programme; within your local community or online via zoom, during school hours, or in the evenings.We support parents by helping them to:
- gain confidence and skills as parents when living with a child with ADHD
- exploring how positive parenting is beneficial to the family as a whole
- discuss strategies for effective behaviour management
- have the opportunity to meet with other parents
- understanding the importance of clear communication for a child with ADHD
Age range
We support parents/ carers whose child/young person is aged 6-18 years old.
Location
These workshops are available to all those in Surrey. If you would like to attend a face-to-face session at your child's school, please let us know the name of your child's school by emailing us: surreypositiveparenting@barnardos.org.uk.

How do I access this service?
This service is open to self-referrals. This form needs to be completed and sent to surreypositiveparenting@barnardos.org.uk. If you can send this as a password-protected document or send the email encrypted this would be the best method. If you would like support with this, email surreypositiveparenting@barnardos.org.uk asking for support before sending us your completed form, and we will happily assist you.
Learning Space offer two groups for parents and carers. Below are these groups and who to contact.
- Parent Anxiety course - this course focuses on supporting your child/ young person who may be experiencing anxiety. This course is made up of 4 sessions that are 90 minutes each. View the website for more information.
- Parent Voice - provides a safe space for parents and carers to connect socially, share their experience and get involved within the community. This group is held within Redhill, Surrey. To enquire about this group email clare.d@learningspace.org.uk
Family Learning offers parenting courses or workshops that can help you support your family positively. Some of the courses include:
- Support children and teenager's resilience and self-esteem
- Learn about children's and teenager's development and strategies to support positive behaviour
- First steps to understanding your neurodivergent child
- Learn strategies to support your anxious child and teenager

Hope Day Service offer a fortnightly online parent support forum open to any Surrey parent, they cover a wide range of topics, including self-harm and have unstructured sessions where parents can chat and support each other also. Visit the Hope website to find out more.
