Festive lights

The festive season can be a joyful time, but it can also feel overwhelming, lonely, or stressful - and that’s okay. However you’re feeling right now, just know that you are not alone and there is support available to you.

If you need support now, here’s what to do:
  • If you are in immediate danger: call 999
  • If you have an urgent need, call our crisis line on 0800 915 4644. It's open 24/7. You can also call NHS 111 and select the mental health option.
  • If you are unsure who you can talk to and how to start a conversation about your feelings visit our talking to someone about your feelings page.
  • If you are struggling with your thoughts and feelings, it can be helpful to create a My Safety Plan.
Self help tools & resources

A range of resources, strategies, and tools developed by professionals can be found in our resources section. Resources on self care, anxiety, depression and much more are available, with links through to other useful websites.

Online support

If you need support with life’s ups and downs outside of your regular support system, try Kooth which offers a free, safe, anonymous online support (kooth.com) or Chat Health which offers confidential text support with a qualified nurse (chathealth.nhs.uk).

Our 12 days of wellbeing tips can be found below, do check them out if you would like to hear a range of advice, wellbeing tips and resources that are available to you this festive season.


Day 1: This video explains what Mindworks Surrey is and how our website can support your mental health and well-being this festive season and beyond. You can explore the website and find out more about mental health, self-care strategies and resources available.
Day 2: This video is a reminder that everyone experiences stress and that it is completely normal, especially during the festive season. Take some time today to pause, breathe, and reflect on what helps you feel calm and supported.

Day 3: Kooth provide free, confidential mental health support to young people aged 10-18 in Surrey. They provide 1:1 support via the chat function, where you can speak with a trained counsellor. Forums and discussion boards are also key features that Kooth has to offer.
Day 4: When you feel overwhelmed, it can sometimes be hard to calm and ground yourself in that moment. Aimee, one our practitioners here at Mindworks wants to share a quick wellbeing tip you can use to help support yourself this festive period. Remember you are not alone this festive season.
Day 5: Today’s video features the wonderful Consulting Youth Advisors (CYA) giving their top tips on things they do to look after their mental health and wellbeing. CYA is a participation group for young people who are passionate about making emotional wellbeing and mental health services in Surrey better.

Day 7: Today's video is all about our video resources page. On this page, you can find a range of different videos on mental health and emotional wellbeing. There are videos specifically designed for children, young people, parents, carers, and professionals.
Day 8: This festive season it’s time to have some fun, relax and look after yourself. We understand that sometimes things can feel overwhelming and Jenny, one our practitioners here at Mindworks wants to share a quick wellbeing tip you can practice.
Day 9: This video highlights things you can do to support your mental health and wellbeing in the run-up to Christmas Day. From watching Christmas movies to listening to music or podcasts – there are lots of different things you can do to support yourself at this time of the year.
Day 10: Dr Dave Damon, an Educational Psychologist in Mindworks Surrey, shares his top tips on how to support yourself this festive period. The 7 essential daily activities to promote wellbeing focus on different things you can do to improve your mood and wellbeing.
Day 11: Today's video focuses on the 5 ways to wellbeing. We’ve teamed up with Surrey County Council to explain what these are and how they can support you. Looking after yourself and supporting your mental health and wellbeing during the festive period is important.
Day 12: Take time this Christmas Day to look after yourself. This day can be overwhelming, so it is important to do things for yourself, whether that is talking with friends, getting some fresh air, or listening to your favourite music.
